Through the Campaign for the Jim Ramstad Community Service
Center, the Adler Graduate School will:
• purchase the 60,000 square foot building it currently leases. The building is centrally
located; adjacent to Interstate 494 near the Mall of America (AGS currently leases 12,000
square feet);
• add 15,000 square feet to the School’s space, for expanded academic and community
programs;
• offer 2,000 square feet to clinicians who become tenants; and,
• prepare the building’s remaining 31,000 square feet for leasing to other, complementary
organizations, thus adding vital social service programs for the community and
generating substantial earned income to support the School’s annual budget.
Ownership of the building and renovation of its space will
allow for the expansion of community services through:
• the establishment of a Family Education Center, serving low- to moderate-income
families in the areas of parent education, early childhood development, financial
literacy, care for elderly family members and other key family issues;
• the development of an outpatient Counseling Clinic for individuals, couples, families and
groups, focusing on acute mental health needs;
• the creation of a Pre-School Therapeutic Child Care Center, offering programs focusing
on school readiness and effective parenting;
• the initiation of a School Counselor Training Center, preparing students for traditional
school counseling tasks (e.g. oversee academic performance, help prepare for post-secondary
education), as well as non-traditional challenges related to K-12 students’ mental health,
family life and social skills needs;
• the development of an Art Therapy Studio, providing services to persons who wish
to use art as a means of working through problems and issues;
• the expansion of AGS’ curriculum, the number of course offerings and student
enrollment; and,
• the availability of space for collaborating organizations and complementary services.
The above programs will be phased in between 2009 and 2012. In addition to philanthropic
contributions, tuition income, program fees, government contracts, and rental income
will support ongoing expenses. |
