History
Alfred Adler, an Austrian physician, one of the pre-eminent psychiatrists of the 20th Century and a noted opponent of Adolf Hitler, taught that the mental health of individuals, families and organizations is inextricably linked to the health of society.

In keeping with Adlerian theory, the Adler Graduate School provides exceptional training at the Master’s level for students who wish to make contributions in the areas of mental health, family life, school counseling, organizational development and related social service fields.

In 1969, the Alfred Adler Institute of Minnesota (AAIM) began offering courses as a 501(c)(3) organization. The Institute earned accreditation in 1991, and changed its name to the Adler Graduate School in 2001. Over 850 students have graduated from the Adler Graduate School and another 400 are currently in process. Many more students have earned certificates through AGS’ Specialty Area Programs or completed courses and workshops in other areas of interest.
